PCSSC has sprouted some members in recent years who have climbed to shine in competitive speed skating. Those individuals who persevered the most ended up climbing to pinnacle levels of skating, taking part in events held at national & international levels. A quorum of these highly successful athletes started their skating careers earlier in their lives as young junior club members – under PCSSC coaching learning from scratch the basic techniques of how-to-skate. Over the years, they worked on honing their skills to improve on skating laps – progressively getting faster – reinforced through signing up for social racing events held at either: Park City Ice Arena, or Utah Olympic Oval (situated in the town of Kearns, Salt Lake City).
This gallery page displays a moving sequence of images supplied by parents of a half dozen or so PCSSC alumni athletes. Their skating action observed was captured at different time points in their lives, the first being from around 2017, and then a selection of moments snapped in the years after. Over this time, and then ongoing since, they made their individual journeys en-route to achieving ice skating track racing success, accompanied by a variety in degrees of fame that came with their achievements.
Accompanying the stills above is a video that was captured by an SLC local TV station news crew who came up to the Park City Ice Arena one Monday afternoon specially to drop in on a PCSSC practice session. They focused on members of that quorum of the skaters, joining them on ice - getting an insight into the team training regimen, so taking in some fast laps with them.
What that crew captured was later edit-compiled into a feature story, and subsequently broadcast as a showcase segment on their nightly news program. This content was recorded, and can be watched as a posting on YouTube.
